The track on a railway or railroad, also known as the permanent way, is the structure consisting of the rails, fasteners, railroad ties (sleepers, British English) and ballast (or slab track ), plus the underlying subgrade. It enables trains to move by providing a dependable surface for their wheels to roll upon. For clarity it is often referred to as railway track (British English and UIC terminology ) or railroad track (predominantly in the United States). Tracks where electric trains or electric trams run are equipped with an electrification system such as an overhead electrical power line or an additional electrified rail.
List of superhero film and television series by lengths
This list shows the total running lengths of super hero television and film series. It separates canon and non-canon where applicable. It also separates original canon from remakes. Note that this list contains only the officially released motion picture media (films and TV series) contained within the various animated or science-fiction series. Additional unique motion-picture content from other media is included under the supplemental category. Some series may contain other media (books, comics, video games, etc.) which are not listed here. Most timings are approximate.
Shortest total path length spanning tree
In computer science, the minimum routing cost spanning tree of a weighted graph is a spanning tree minimizing the sum of pairwise distances between vertices in the tree. It is also called the optimum distance spanning tree, shortest total path length spanning tree, minimum total distance spanning tree, or minimum average distance spanning tree. In an unweighted graph, this is the spanning tree of minimum Wiener index. Hu (1974) writes that the problem of constructing these trees was proposed by Francesco Maffioli.
Hook length formula
In combinatorial mathematics, the hook length formula is a formula for the number of standard Young tableaux whose shape is a given Young diagram. It has applications in diverse areas such as representation theory, probability, and algorithm analysis; for example, the problem of longest increasing subsequences. A related formula counts the number of semi-standard Young tableaux, which is a specialization of a Schur polynomial.
List of Spanish provinces by sequence or length of coastline
List of Spanish provinces; the initial order is by sequence counter-clockwise (i.e. from the junction of the Atlantic coast and the border with France, by sea to the junction of the Mediterranean coast and the border with France).
Mean length of utterance
Mean length of utterance (or MLU) is a measure of linguistic productivity in children. It is traditionally calculated by collecting 100 utterances spoken by a child and dividing the number of morphemes by the number of utterances. A higher MLU is taken to indicate a higher level of language proficiency.
