Ian David Long was a former United States Marine Corps corporal residing in Thousand Oaks, California. He was identified as the suspect of a mass shooting at Borderline Bar and Grill , killing 12 people on Wednesday November 7, 2018. [3] [5]

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said the gunman was found dead inside the nightclub after the second wave of police arrived after Helus’ death.

Long used a.45 caliber handgun for the shooting and drove a car to the Borderline Bar and Grill in this small city, about 40 miles west of Los Angeles.

Local authorities said it had contact with Long over the years.

The sheriff added that Long used a handgun designed to be fit with ten rounds of ammunition.

Neighbors called to complain of loud noises earlier this year that sounded like he was tearing down the walls of the house

Long was a former United States Marine and a veteran of the War in Afghanistan. Long served from 2008 to 2013, including the 2010-2011 stint in Afghanistan, and had last served in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He later suffered from Posttraumatic stress disorder.[1]
